Dave HallDave Hall Entering his 24th year as Head Coach of Perrysburg High School in 2009, Coach Hall has a record of 413-240. He has won 6 Northern Lakes League Championships winning 5 in the last 12 years. His teams have won 9 Sectional Titles and 2 District Championships and were District Runner-up in 1991. In 2003 and 2008 they went to the Sweet 16 in the Ohio State Tournament. Seven of his teams have won 20 games in a season going 22-7 in 1998, 27-3 in 1999, 23-5 in 2001, 22-7 in 2002, 23-8 in 2003, 20-9 in 2005 and 21-9 in 2008. . His 2003 Team went to the State Semi-Finals in Ohio.  He has coached 16 All-Ohio players. 54 of his players have played College baseball, 3 have been drafted and 6 have played pro ball with two-Ron Rightnowar making it to the Majors Leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers and Burke Badenhop presently with the Flordia Marlins. The Jackets have also qualified for the Ohio State Acme State Championships the seven times, winning the Acme State Title in 1998. Coach Hall is on the State Acme Board of Control and is serving his 5th term on the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Board. Coach Hall teaches Sociology at Perrysburg High School. He also coached 25 years of High School Football and is presently Assistant Athletic Director. (Click to close.)

    • P takes it, 3B on bag.
  • SQUEEZE PLAY - P covers Home. See Rundown drill
  • DOUBLE STEAL CALL#3
    • C fakes to 2B, fires to 3B or executes rundown (runback?)
  • DOUBLE STEAL AUTOMATIC 
    • 3B puts hands in air
    • C throws there without hestitation (no fake to 2).
  • STEALING THIRD
    • Drop step or clear
    • P covers rundown
  • PITCH-OUT
    • Left-hand batter
    • Right-hand batter
  • GROUNDER to 3B
    • Force at Home
    • Tag at Home
  • WILD PITCH - C hustles, P covers, check trailing runners
  • POP FLY ON LINE  - C or 3B to take, P covers 3B and calls it
Pick-Off Playbook
  • One-Five
    • P in stretch, 3B not holding runner at 3.
    • 3B breaks to bag. RHP makes his own decision, LHP looks to catcher.
    • If C pops mitt, P throws.
    • If C drops mitt down, P holds or fakes.
  • Five-One (As above but P in windup.)
    • The different call is to remind P to step off with pivot foot.
    • Again, if C pops, throw, but if C drops mitt, hold.
  • One-Left (As above but P fakes throw)
    • 3B fakes miss and 'chases' into foul territory.
    • LF and SS come in hard calling 'ball, ball'. 
    • P looking for runner to break towards home.
      Note: call could also be One-Five with an indicator used to distinguish fake from real.
  • Two-Five (Make it an automatic.)
    • If 3B has hands in air, C throws down to third immediately.
      Check Rundown drills to make sure of coverage responsibilities.
