You might look at images in this lesson plan and want to think about where to pitch this batter ...as if there's one perfect pitch to throw. There isn't, and we'll get to that in a later lesson. But first, look at the batter's eyes.
"What he sees of the ball, and the way he sees it..."
It doesn't matter where he's looking - could be down in the zone at the contact point, or out along the flight path of the ball. The point is, he is looking somewhere, and what he sees of the ball, and the way he sees it, and where he "projects" it to be when it reaches the contact point with his bat — that's the first thing that really matters. So when we speak of inside or outside pitches, it shouldn't be in relation to the batter's body, but to his eyes.
