Deception
Up until this point, we've concentrated our batter deception discussion on the strike zone, hitting zone and chase zone — the area over the plate. Now we're going to shft our attention farther away from the batter to the part of the pitch between release point and the start of the travel segment (see lesson 7).

Understanding the Window Effect

Every batter is taught (or should be taught) to try to pick up the ball in the so-called pitcher's window. This imagined space usually centers beside the pitcher's eyes and above the glove in set position. It's where your pitch will appear as the batter first picks it up in flight.
