There are only two camps of coaches - those who absolutely love their fungo bat and those who have yet to find true love. I recently got my first chance to use this new Biaxial-coated Fungo developed by Tom Cat, wrapped end to end in woven fiber. I used it, other coaches used it, we love it. The typical weight drop on these makes for an effortless swing. You could toss up and hit grounders and flyballs all day. And the wrap will provide years of happy coaching. - Richard Todd, WebBall

For pyramid training underweight component

The Tom Cat Lightning Rod is ideal for WebBall's recommended Pyramid training program. It's long and light (a -6 weight drop, twice the usual drop for maple). And because you can use it with the same grip as your regular game bat - whether you like cross-taping or pinetar - it gives you more of the true experience of swinging wood yet with less resistance.

A stick of dynamite!

Just 26" or 28" long and about that weight (+/- 1/2 oz). The full barrel and short stroke gives you better control for running your infield, or for repetitive drills. It also makes a good one arm swing trainer. (Think of it as a Fungo for infields. The Yankees are using this style for opposite-field hitting drills.) Allow 5-7 weeks for custom orders.

A brute of a bat, over-size & over-weight

The Tom Cat Stump meant as a serious training tool supervised by a knowledgeable coach. The barrel is usually 2 7/8" (some may be barely within 2-3/4" reg. size) and the weight is from 3 to 6 oz over (repeat: over, not under). After swings in training or on deck with this baby, your game bat will feel like a toothpick. The advantage of the Stump over, say, bat donuts or fins - the balance.

Ideal coaching bats for infield & outfield

Traditional Fungo for coaches hitting to fielders. They are longer and lighter than a regular bat, but made by TomCat from a choice of woods and options.
